Computers to Honduras
An emergency shipment of computer hardware is on its way to Honduras to replace the equipment lost in CPI’s schools during the flooding caused by Hurricanes Eta and Iota last November. Two one-cubic-metre tanks were packed with 46 desktops and laptops, assorted peripherals, and donated clothing and quilts, which were used as padding. A total of 670 kg, including the weight of the two 62.5 kg tanks, was shipped by truck to Montreal, where it was to be loaded onto a train to Miami. The final leg of the journey by ship to San Pedro Sula is expected to be completed around February 21. These are the first computers that CPI has sent to Honduras as freight; all others were transported as luggage by members of CPI’s Learning Tours. The empty tanks will be used to store rainwater in the village of Plan Grande
